Summer

Everyone (including myself) gets very excited for Summer. But being the wife of a recovering porn addict it also brings on 1 very big horror. The loss of clothes. Summer and warm weather means women in bikinis, very short shorts, halter tops, tank tops and tube tops. This means I am on full alert for hard times that are sure to come our way. And I am not saying that Women shouldn't wear these types of clothes. What I am saying is that for men who see women showing more skin there mind tends to turn to more sexual thoughts then usual. And for a man who is recovering from a porn addiction it can be particularly hellish. I think a lot of the time when women and girls wear these types of clothes they either know what type of message they are sending and enjoy it. Or they have no clue. I talked to my husband about this topic once and I asked him how he felt or what image was it that he felt these women were trying to portray. He simply said sex. He then explained that maybe some of the girls and women who wear skimpy outfits are doing it to just try and stay cool but he felt that if that was the case it was only maybe 5% at the most. When guy sees a girl walking down the street in a tube top and shorts so short that her butt cheeks are hanging out. he automatically think she is looking for a guy to have sex with.
My husband then told me about the story of a women who was wearing hot pants (these are the short spandex pants that cheerleaders wear over their underwear under their uniform) and a tube top that was only covering her boobs. She was walking down the street at night around midnight and headed down a dark alley. There was a guy who was watching her and followed her into the alley way and tried to rape her. Luckily  he didn't succeed. As the police were arresting  him and one police officer was trying to console the women. Through her tears she asked the man why he had done that. The guy told her that she was asking for it. He said dressed like that and walking down a dark alley at midnight how could she not be asking for it.
This story has stuck with me for a very long time. As women when we dress like that we think we are sexy and flirty. But apparently men don't see that. All they see is us trying to attract a sexual partner. I can understand that posting this may cause some very debatable feelings. But this is simply my view point and how I have heard things from the opinions of my husband and other men.

This is over an hour long but I really enjoyed watching it. I can see all the ladies points of views. But I know that when you have someone who is addicted to porn and not just a casual viewer. That it can have very different consequences than just casual viewing. Most of this discussion is on casual viewing but I noticed that when the topic of porn becoming an addiction. More of the women agreed that it would bother them if their spouse was addicted verses just watching it. Anyway I really enjoyed watching and seeing all these different women's view points. It helped me get a little more understanding with these other viewpoints. But at the same time I still have my knowledge and belief of when porn becomes an addiction. It can be VERY destructive.

"The Perfect Problem"

This whole week the news station ABC 4 news here in Utah is doing a story called "the Perfect Problem". They are focusing on the effects of Pornography on women of all backgrounds. I had a chance to interview for this story and I am so happy that they are reporting on this so that maybe we can finally get people talking about this. I am especially happy that they are focusing on women. A lot of people forget that behind every man that is addicted to porn. There may be a wife and family or girlfriend that is hurting and feels alone and like they cant talk to anyone. So if there are any women out there who are reading this and who has a man in their life that is addicted to porn.
